The goal of the Pamlico County Planning and Economic Development Office is to help strengthen the area’s economy and to encourage job growth by working to improve the area’s business climate. It promotes general economic development of the County consistent with sustainable economic growth, entrepreneurial related activities, tourism and other business opportunities. The department provides economic and other information to residents, visitors, developers and businesses interested in locating in Pamlico County.

Pamlico Community College Small Business Center supports the development of new businesses and growth of existing businesses by providing training, counseling and resource information plus free, confidential counseling services.

The Pamlico County Chamber of Commerce is organized to advance the economic, industrial, professional, cultural and civic welfare of the Pamlico County Area. The Chamber serves members in Pamlico County as well as members whose businesses are in nearby counties which provide services and products to residents and businesses locally.

North Carolina’s Eastern Region Development Commission is the economic development agency for a 13-county region (Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Nash, Onslow, Pamlico, Pitt, Wayne, and Wilson). The Commission offers confidential site location assistance and information to companies considering the Eastern Region for a business location or expansion.

North Carolina Rural Economic Development Center works with statewide partners to develop a joint vision for the long-range future of rural North Carolina.

East Carolina University Office of Economic Development is an economic engine acting as the bridge between the resources of the university and the region. It fosters partnerships among faculty, companies and other parties to encourage more entrepreneurial activity to stimulate investment and create jobs.

Neuse River Development Authority is a non-profit small business lender serving a 10-county region in eastern North Carolina. NRDA offers several loan programs to new and expanding businesses which have been unable to obtain conventional financing for job creation and sustainable economic growth.
