Grantsboro

Incorporated in 1998, Grantsboro is located at the intersection of Highways 55 and 306 and is commonly referred to as the Crossroads of Pamlico County. It is home to the first of two traffic lights in the County.

The community is named for native New Yorker William Grant who came as a peddler with a “pack upon his back” and stayed to build a store and marry a local girl in the late 1800s.

At 39 feet above sea level, Grantsboro sits along a mile-wide sand ridge which extends north and south across the county.

Grantsboro is a retail hub and home to the county visitors’ center, historical museum, Chamber of Commerce and Pamlico Community College.
